Guest blog: Association of British Insurers

December 13, 2016

Before the introduction of Flood Re, households in flood risk areas were finding it increasingly difficult to access affordable property insurance.

In our latest guest blog, Laura Hughes, Property Adviser at the Association of British Insurers (ABI), shares her knowledge on why insurers were prompted to support Flood Re, what they can do for homeowners after a flood and how they are preparing to handle flooding incidents this winter.

The blog also explains the six main stages for returning a property to normal after flooding, and why the process can be so lengthy – as well as stating why insurers support efforts to get resistance and resilience measures installed in properties – offering homeowners an insight into the crucial role insurers play in recovering homes from flooding.

You can read the full blog here, or take a look at the ABI’s publication on ‘Responding to Major Floods’ here.
