#FloodReTour Day 1 – Flood Re’s LEJOG adventure started with a bang

September 15, 2016

The cycling team – made up of Harriet Boughton, Gary McInally, Dan Byrne, Chris Bradbury, Andrew Creedon and Allay Naqvi – set off from their London offices, on bike, headed for London Paddington with the hope of catching the 12:05 train to Penzance, Cornwall. Cycling dutifully through London’s busy streets, the team made it with plenty of time to calmly load their bikes onto the Penzance bound train and find their seats.

Meanwhile, the same cannot be said for the support team and Flood Re’s CEO, Brendan McCafferty, who were furiously fighting traffic, trying desperately to make it to London Paddington to catch the same train. Luck was not on their side and with the cycling team’s kit in hand, they watched as the 12:05 pulled out of the station.

Deprived of their full kit, the cycling team was still determined to push on and complete the day’s plan of making it to Land’s End to officially kick off LEJOG.

Arriving into Penzance at 17:30, the team unloaded their bikes, had a quick pit stop to sample some local Cornish pasties, of course, and then set off with Land’s End in their sights.

The ride went off without a hitch, with the team covering the 10 miles from Penzance to Land’s End in just under an hour. They arrived at mainland England’s most westerly point just in time to catch a glorious September sunset.
