FTC Senior Test Analyst

Location: London

Purpose

Flood Re has recently undergone large transformation programmes covering management of its core systems, recently implemented solution with IFRS17 accounting standards and has identified further changes in its portfolio to improve synergies in the management, harmonisation, and governance of its data assets. As a result, several change projects and initiatives of varying complexity are planned soon, requiring adequate test planning, design, test execution, UAT and test reports. The Flood Re testing capability is also being setup with a new target operating model, organisational testing strategy and testing standard operating procedures that needs support building and retaining testing knowledge across all of Flood Re’s change, technology, and data landscapes.

The FTC Senior Test Analyst will support Flood Re business teams, working with Flood Re colleagues, external consultants and vendor teams to test delivery for the changes as per the Flood Re change portfolio. Reliance will be placed by the change portfolio projects on this testing work undertaken through the detailed testing across different data and solution components underlying the changes. This role is technical in nature and will principally require someone with experience in delivering Quality Control and Assurance across transformation programmes, including implementation of third-party solutions or bespoke systems; including but not limited to the Operations, Finance and Actuarial space. The role also involves dealing with business stakeholders, IT, and vendor teams to ensure testing risks and issues are timely identified and rectified.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Take personal ownership of the end-to-end testing of Flood Re’s change landscape and solutions, including developing test plans, approach, scripts, issue logs, and test execution best practice. Some components of the solution may be built in-house, therefore, it’s critical that all testing activity ensures that any buy & build integrations are thoroughly tested and work seamlessly in preparation for go live.
  • Ensure appropriate oversight and governance throughout the implementation lifecycle (e.g., discovery, build, test, UAT, business readiness, and go live planning).
  • Collaborate with business teams in helping define, evolve, and promote the end to-end test strategy and plan. Perform efficient data validations using SQL statements and other tools (e.g., Power BI, SSMS etc.) and ensure robust controls are built around ETL processes.
  • Plan and execute suitable regression testing activities related to the change/release scope Report bugs/errors discovered per standardized tools and processes.
  • Provide Testing support to the business during User Acceptance Testing, coordinating all Testing activity effectively.
  • Apply appropriate sampling methodology and risk-based testing to test the completeness and accuracy of technical calculations.
  • Act as a single point of contact for all testing & validation activities for go live readiness, working closely with Finance, Actuarial, Operations and IT Teams.
  • Understand product and solution architecture, related data principles and interfaces with downstream systems; participate in design & architecture activities ensuring testability and ability to address both technical and business requirements.
  • Analyse data requirements for end-to-end test validations, including validation of the end user reports.
  • Work closely with the SMEs to ensure that all scenarios for a given feature set are properly understood and tested. Design test scenarios, test cases and test data with appropriate test coverage and execute tests against test scripts covering all aspects of functional and non-functional test requirements.
  • Provide user support for system implementations including performing user verification testing where required. Reviewing system changes, their impact on the testing framework and applying any required changes.
  • This is a hands-on role and will be expected to deliver:
    • End-to-end Test strategies and plans with clearly stated testing objectives
    • Test scripts with objectively defined pass/fail criteria
    • Testing defects logged with appropriate RCA, fix and retest information.
    • Test completion and outcomes reports documented.
    • Test tools implementation and administration, Requirements traceability management support, test cases management, defect management, knowledge management and reviews aiding the build of testing capability within Flood Re.
  • Provide regular and high-quality updates to the Flood Re Test Lead and all stakeholders.
  • Create a positive, high energy “change culture,” fostering collaboration across different internal teams and vendor(s), supporting teams to establish.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in Financial Services preferred, particularly within the insurance / reinsurance industry.
  • Expert knowledge of practices, procedures, and principles of testing
  • Ability to work in an agile environment.
  • Experience of test scenarios, test case writing, test data preparation and test analysis for various types of testing including unit testing, system testing, Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, non-functional testing, batch testing, ETL testing etc.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure Cloud platform, ADF Pipelines and understanding of relational databases. Expert knowledge of SQL, database validation and querying tools, data reconciliation and validation of business rules.
  • Experience working and testing with test automation frameworks involving Visual Studio, Chrome Driver, Postman, Selenium etc.
  • Experience of implementing and administering test management tools using various productivity tools e.g., Jira Software, sharepoint etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities simultaneously Excellent stakeholder management with ability to operate with Executive level stakeholders. Keen eye for detail whilst being able to “zoom out” and bring it back to strategic objectives.
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse group of individuals and a keen desire to create a high performing and motivating environment.
  • Ability to forward plan and foresee future outcomes, think strategically, and manage risks and issues transparently and effectively.
