Introducing one of our budding cyclists, Chris Bradbury, actuarial analyst at Flood Re, who’s hoping his tactic of back-to-back training schedule will pay off on LEJOG!

Name: Chris Bradbury

Age: 26

What spurred you on to put your best foot forward and cycle the #FloodReTour Land’s End to John O’Groats bike ride?

I love a challenge and pushing myself. Being able to do this whilst promoting the scheme is a golden opportunity.

How has the training been going?

Reasonably well, twisting my ankle whilst skateboarding probably hasn’t helped too much there…

What is your longest training ride?

50 miles, my focus has been on back to back days rather than overall mileage. We shall see if this was a wise tactic very soon!

Any embarrassing or proud moments during training?

Proudest moment: weaving through a herd of deer that decided to cross the road in front of me whilst I was bombing down a hill.

Most embarrassing moment: wearing Lycra.

What are you most looking forward to on the tour?

Any long section with a downhill gradient!

What are you least looking forward to on the tour?

Chamois cream

Have you ever done anything like this before?

First time! I’ve run Tough Mudder and done various runs/swimathons but as a cyclist consider myself more on the extreme side, e.g. Downhill and Dirt Jumping. It’s certainly been an interesting training journey in terms of the change in style of riding!

One thing that you won’t be without during the cycle ride e.g. memento (excluding the obvious water etc.):

My lucky red Bandana

Do you have a message for the flood affected communities you are going to visit en route?

Flood Re works in the background, the more you shop around the cheaper your cover will be. All participating insurers are detailed on the Flood Re website which also contains a wealth of information to help you find the policy that best suits your needs.
